Depictions of American Post-war Labor |  Ezra Stoller | Socks Studio

Ezra Stoller was the portraitist of modern architecture. Since his first years as an architecture student he developed an interest in photography and began taking photos of models and drawings; at the apex of his activity he would document landmark buildings by architects such as Alvar Aalto, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Eero Saarinen, Marcel Breuer, Paul Rudolph, and Louis I. Kahn through iconic photographs.

A little less known are his editorial depictions of the changing landscape of post-war American labor: portfolios of 1950’s and 60’s of workers making televisions, calculators, ketchup bottles or vynil records; photographs that provided a general commentary of human activity, usually through the use of wide central perspectives.
